1397. London. King Richard the II. is unpopular because he is unpredictable, obstinate and flushing his money.
He was crowned at the age of ten, after his legendary grandfather Edward the III. of the House of Plantagenet. However, this grandfather had some other grandchildren too, who – realizing the incompetence of Richard II. figured that in the sake of the country he must be removed. This notion was particularly cherished by Henry Bolingbroke.
Later he succeeds and under the name of Henry the IV. he takes the throne.
But at present, the king is Richard the II., and he is trying to prevent Bolingbroke to barge ahead. By every means…
